Tampilan Dan Pewarisan Sifat Perkembangan Biji Dan Komponen Hasil Beberapa Varietas Jagung (Zea Mays L.) Pada Berbagai Dosis Pupuk Kalium
ABSTRACT
This study was to determine phenotypic and genetic relationship of corn seed development and yield components of several corn genotypes grown with various rates of potassium fertilizer so that it can be determined which characters can be used for indirect and direct selection for improving various yield components in the corn population. This study was conducted using a split-plot design with two factors and three replications, so that 20 combinations and 60 experimental units were obtained. Observations included date of anthesis and silking, plant height, seed dry weight, dry matter accumulation rate, effective filling period, length of corncob, weight of corncob, seed-row number, seed number per cob, seed weight per cob, weight of 100 seeds, and seed yield per m2. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance then continued with honestly significant difference using SAS application. The components of variance and heritability were then determined, and the correlation and selection response were calculated. The results showed that the genotypes has a significantly different on almost all traits, while various rates of potassium fertilizer only significantly affected effective filling period, corncob length, weight of corncob and seed number per cob. Almost all characters have wide genetic variance and high heritability. There are characters that are significantly correlated with seed yield per m2 with a high genetic correlation value. The results of indirect selection response showed that seed weight per cob can be used to improve seed yield per m2.
