ABSTRACT Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt.) Sweet corn production from year to year decreased. One solution that can be done is to take advantage of the residual effect of fertilization on the first planting for the second crop. This condition occurs because of the high cost of producing sweet corn, which causes farmers to be reluctant to cultivate sweet corn. This study aims to determine the effect of residual guano and NPK fertilizers on the growth and yield of sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt). This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Agricultural Extension Agency (BPP) of the Department of Agriculture, Kuantan Tengah District, Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. The study lasted for three months starting from December 2021 to February 2022. Methods The research was conducted in a non-factorial experiment using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 12 treatments, repeated three times, each plot consisting of 15 plants and three plants were taken as samples so that the total sample plants were 108 plants. The results of the research data were then tested with ANOVA and then continued with the DMRT test. The results showed that the use of residual guano and NPK fertilizers affected the growth of corn. The combination of remaining guano and NPK fertilizers at a dose of 18 ton.ha-1 and a dose of NPK 225 kg.ha-1 is the best combination to increase several parameters of growth and yield of sweet corn in Kuantan Tengah District, Kuantan Singingi Regency.
