Perbandingan Efisiensi Energi Pada Sistem Fotovoltaik, Kolektor Termal Surya, Dan Fotovoltaik/Termal Dengan Menggunakan Pipa Kalor Sebagai Metode Penyerapan Panas
One of the main obstacles for developers and users of photovoltaic
(Photovoltaic/PV) modules is that the module temperature is too high due to high
solar radiation and higher ambient temperature, which reduces PV efficiency.
Photovoltaic/Thermal (PV/T) is a hybrid system by combining Photovoltaic with
Solar Thermal Collector (STC) to provide electricity and heat simultaneously so
as to maximize the utilization of solar energy to be more efficient and can produce
a higher amount of energy per unit area compared to PV or solar thermal systems
only, so this technology is expected to solve the problem of low PV electrical
efficiency due to the high temperature of the PV module.
This study aims to determine the effect of the use of PV/T on the efficiency
of PV electricity, the effect of using heat pipes in absorbing thermal energy in
PV/T and STC systems, the effect of the mass flow rate of water on the efficiency
of PV/T and STC systems, and the comparison of electrical efficiency, thermal
efficiency, and the total efficiency of the three systems in terms of energy and
exergy.
In this study, three types of systems will be compared, namely PV systems
without cooling, PV/T systems and solar collector systems (STC) with heat pipes
as heat absorbing media to heat water. This research was conducted by directly
measuring the intensity of the sun, the achievable water temperature, and the
electrical and thermal energy produced by making four variations of the flow rate
of heated water for eight days of testing.
From this research, it can be concluded that the average electrical energy
efficiency for PV is 16.92% and PV/T is 17.68%, where there is an average
increase in electrical efficiency of 0.76%. The average thermal energy efficiency
for PV/T is 22.93% and STC is 24.65%, where there is a difference in the average
thermal efficiency of 1.72%. The flow rate with the best performance is at 12 lpm
compared to 6, 8, and 10 lpm, where the thermal energy efficiency of PV/T and
STC is 25.35% and 26.54%, respectively. The ratio of the average total energy
efficiency of PV, STC, PV/T systems is 16.92%, 24, 65%, and 40.61% respectively
and the ratio of the average total exergy efficiency of PV, STC, PV/T systems is
14, 71%, 2.93%, and 17.60% respectively.
