Perancangan Dan Pembuatan Turbin Screw Portable Sebagai Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Pikohidro Untuk Kebutuhan Penerangan Jalan Di Daerah Terpencil
ABSTRACT
Fulfilling the need for electrical energy that is not optimal, especially in rural areas, makes it difficult for people to be able to carry out activities like other communities, such as in other areas where electricity has entered the area. The Portable Screw Turbine is a small-scale power plant, where this turbine works by utilizing low head water flow and high water discharge to produce rotation. This turbine has several advantages such as low maintenance costs, fairly easy installation and construction and is environmentally friendly. The design and manufacture of a Portable Screw turbine has been carried out, with the specification of a turbine diameter of 23 cm, length of 1 m, number of threads of 5, shaft diameter of 6 cm and pitch of 22 cm. This screw turbine was tested by varying several turbine tilt angles, namely 15°, 30°, 45° and 60° with a flow rate used of 0.0054 m3/s. Meanwhile, the field test was tested at an angle of 30° with a flow rate of 0.125 m3/s from field survey results. The test results show that the angle of inclination of the turbine has an effect on the resulting mechanical performance. The 45° angle test produces the greatest mechanical power of 18.857 Watts with an efficiency of 35.669% compared to the 15°, 30° and 60° angles in laboratory tests and field tests producing a power of 4 Watts. This screw turbine is expected to be another alternative to overcome the energy crisis in Indonesia, especially in Riau province by utilizing the existing flow.
