Pengaruh Game Online Vrchat Terhadap Kemampuan Choukai Dan Kaiwa Pada Mahasiswa Angkatan 2020 Pendidikan Bahasa Jepang Universitas Riau
Foreign students who study Japanese, especially in Indonesia, tend to experience difficulties in listening and speaking Japanese. Due to difficulties in speaking Japanese, this causes students to feel anxious when they want to speak Japanese, so students don't feel anxious when speaking Japanese, an interesting media is needed so that students feel free to speak Japanese without fear of being blamed or corrected as in class. Regarding the difficulty in mastering speaking skills, one of the methods of memorizing and understanding Japanese vocabulary in a fun and non-boring way is to use games. If we look at technological developments that are growing so rapidly, they can have influences or aspects that can improve choukai and kaiwa abilities. Such as the convenience of communicating with other citizens or foreigners through online games, such as online VRchat games which can make it easier for players to communicate freely even between countries.
The objectives of this study were: 1) To find out how high the choukai and kaiwa abilities of class 2020 students of the Japanese Language Education Study Program, FKIP, University of Riau, were after playing online games (VRchat). 2) To find out how high the choukai and kaiwa abilities of class 2020 students of the Japanese Language Education Study Program, FKIP, University of Riau, do not play online games (VRchat). 3) To find out the differences between choukai and kaiwa abilities of students who use online games (VRchat) and students who do not use online games (VRchat).
The method used in this study was to use an experimental design using a randomized Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design (Random Control Group Pretest-Post test) in which the two groups were divided randomly or by drawing lots. In this case the research will be conducted in one class, only divided into 2 groups, namely the experimental group and the control group, in which the
ii
experimental group consists of 14 students and the control group consists of 14
students.
From this study, it was found that there was an influence of online VRChat
games on choukai and kaiwa abilities in Japanese Language Education students at
the University of Riau class of 2020. VRChat online games can improve students'
choukai and kaiwa compared to the abilities of students who do not use these
media. This can be seen from the difference in the average posttest score of the
experimental group with a value of 73.21 and the control group with a value of
58.57. The experimental group got a higher average score than the control group.
Thus it can be concluded that VRchat online games as learning media can
contribute to increasing students' interest in learning and also making them active
in the learning process.
