ABSTRACT
Gate valve is a machine element that is commonly used to control the flow of fluid and gas at high pressure, so that in the process of making a gate valve it is necessary to pay attention to design characteristics. This study aims to obtain a gate valve design using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires and conducting interviews with the company to obtain the design criteria desired by the company. From the results of questionnaires and interviews, it can be continued with making a house of quality matrix so that the design criteria desired by the company are obtained. This research is expected to be useful for companies in getting a gate valve design with good product design quality in accordance with the company's wishes. This research resulted in the development of a gate valve design type JIS 10K / ANSI 250 with a diameter of 10 inches. There are several attributes that become the technical capacity of product development, namely corrosion resistance, safe when used, strong materials and minimal product defects. This development has a fairly high priority, after the four technical attributes. The development of attributes that have a high priority will significantly encourage the fulfillment of company (consumer) satisfaction.
