ABSTRACT
Siak Regency is one of the regencies in Riau Province that has many industrial companies. The large number of industrial companies, makes siak district threatened with various pollution and environmental damage. One of the pollution that often occurs is air pollution caused by smoke or waste from industrial activities. This research is backgrounded by problems related to pollution due to industrial activities, namely air pollution. Air pollution due to industrial activities in Siak Regency is a problem that is felt by the community every day, so there are many complaints from the community to the local government regarding air pollution that occurs. The local government agency responsible for controlling pollution and environmental damage in Siak Regency is the Environmental Agency. This study aims to determine the Performance of the Environmental Service in Controlling Air Pollution Due to Industrial Activities in Siak Regency as well as factors inhibiting the performance of the Environmental Service in controlling air pollution due to industrial activities in Siak Regency. This research uses qualitative research methods with a descriptive phenomenological approach. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The result of this study is the performance of the Siak Regency Environmental Agency in controlling air pollution due to industrial activities is quite good but not optimal because there are still factors that hinder the performance of the Environmental Agency. The factors that hinder the performance of the environmental agency in controlling air pollution due to industrial activities in Siak district are human resources and infrastructure.
