ABSTRACT
Solok City is one of the low-lying areas that has various disaster potentials, and exposure to the population and culture that can pose a disaster risk. Floods are disasters that often occur in Solok City, so an appropriate strategy is needed to deal with flood disasters and is supported by community involvement in flood prevention efforts by increasing community understanding and preparedness for disasters. This study aims to find out how the Flood Disaster Management Strategy by the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of the City of Solok, West Sumatra and the preparedness of the community in dealing with flood disasters in the City of Solok. The theoretical concept used by researchers is the strategy concept from Hunger & Wheelen 2003 (Praminingtyas, 2015). This study used a qualitative research method with a descriptive phenomenological approach. The results of this study are that flood disaster management in 2021 will be carried out based on the strategy in the Strategic Plan of the Solok City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). The implementation of the flood disaster management strategy is considered to have gone quite well, and the people of Solok City have also had good preparedness in dealing with flood disasters. However, there are still problems in the field such as the unclear planning of the implementation target of increasing the knowledge and preparedness of the people of Solok City against floods.
