ABSTRACT
The aims to identified the number of types of macrofauna and mesofauna as well as the growth and productivity of oil palm plants on Dystrudepts soil applied with compound fertilizer (KCaMgS) and oil palm empty fruit bunch (OPEFB) mulch. Research using randomized block design (RBD) consisted of six treatments with three replications to obtain 18 experimental units. Parameters observed include number of species and total individual soil macrofauna and mesofauna, ksolidpopulation and relative density of soil macrofauna and mesofauna, growth and productivity of oil palm plants. Macrofauna and mesofauna data were analyzed descriptively, data on growth and productivity of oil palm plants were analyzed usingvariance with duncan's new multiple range test (DNMRT) using the SAS application. The results showed that the highest number and types of individual macrofauna were found in the compound fertilizer treatment of 875 kg.ha-1 with OPEFB mulch of 27 tons.ha-1. The number of families was 12 families and 40 total individual macrofauna. The highest number and individual soil mesofauna were found in the compound fertilizer treatment of 625 kg.ha-1 with 27 tons.ha-1 OPEFB mulch with 2 families and 3 total soil mesofauna individuals. Application of compound fertilizer (KCaMgS) 625 kg.ha-1 with 27 ton.ha-1 OPEFB mulch resulted in a higher frond growth compared to other treatments. Productivity of oil palm plants for the treatment of compound fertilizer (KCaMgS) 625 kg.ha-1 with OPEFB mulch gave higher productivity than other treatments.
