ABSTRACT
This study aims to determine the interaction, combination and effect of rice husk biochar and a source of phosphate fertilizer on the chemical properties of Ultisol soil and the growth and yield of shallot plants. The research was carried out at the Experimental Garden and Laboratory of Soil Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau from May to August 2022. The research was carried out experimentally in 3x3 factorial using Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The first factor, the dosage of rice husk biochar consisted of 3 levels (0, 5 and 10 t.ha⁻¹). The second factor is 90 kg P2O5.ha⁻¹ from various sources consisting of 3 levels (TSP, RP and guano). Parameters observed were pH, P-total, P-available, number of leaves, length of leaves, age at harvest, number of tubers, tuber diameter, fresh tuber weight and storageable tuber weight. Data from the analysis of variance were further tested with DNMRT at the 5% level. The results of the research that has been carried out are interactions of rice husk biochar and sources of phosphate fertilizer for the parameters of the number of leaves and the number of tubers per clump. Rice husk biochar at doses of 5 t.ha-1 and 10 t.ha-1 significantly increased the number of leaves, leaf length, fresh tuber weight and storageable tuber weight. The source of phosphate fertilizer from guano markedly increased the number of leaves and the number of tubers per clump. The combination of 5 t.ha-1 rice husk biochar and 90 kg P2O5.ha-1 sourced from Guano fertilizer significantly increased the P-total soil content of leaf number, leaf length, number of tubers per hill, tuber diameter, fresh tuber weight and weight tubers worth saving.
