Penerapan Pembelajaran Learning Cycle 5e Berbantukan Media Mobile Learning Dalam Meningkatkan Keterampilan Berpikir Kritis Siswa SMA Pada Materi Momentum Dan Impuls
Physics learning is not just a collection of facts and concepts, learning Physics
provides knowledge about the universe for practice and reasoning. Physics must
also be in accordance with the nature of science learning, namely as a product,
process, and attitude where Physics as a process and attitude certainly pays
attention to how critical thinking skills are. Therefore, to facilitate learning
Physics, which requires generations to have the skills needed for a more complex
life and work environment, namely focusing on critical thinking skills,
communication, creativity and collaboration skills, these are the demands of the
21st century. The impact of the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in a change in the
process of teaching and learning activities to be shorter, which should have been
one hour of lessons set by the Minister of Education and Culture for 45 minutes to
20 minutes and 1 hour of lessons. However, students must still study in a short
time. Physics learning in this study was carried out through the 5E learning cycle
with the help of mobile learning media so that students can still carry out home
experiments and learn in learning via cellphones.
The purpose of this study was to describe the critical thinking skills of high school
students after the application of the 5E learning cycle model assisted by mobile
learning media on momentum and impulse material and to find out the differences
in students' critical thinking skills between classes that applied the 5E learning
cycle model assisted by mobile learning media and classes that implemented
learning conventional in class X high school students of momentum and impulse
material.
This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Tapung Hulu. The type of research used
in this research is a quasi-experiment. The research design used in this study is the
posttest only control group design. The sample was taken randomly from a
population of 4 science classes. Classes that are given treatment with learning
cycle 5E assisted by mobile learning media or experimental classes, namely group
X Science 1 and control class with conventional learning, namely group X
Science 3. Data collection was carried out by giving a critical thinking skills test
xii
in the form of a posttest. The posttest was given to both groups and the form of
the test which consisted of 10 questions from 5 aspects of critical thinking skills.
The research results obtained that the average score of critical thinking skills
students in the experimental group were classified as high while the control group
was classified as low. After being given a critical thinking skills test in the form of
a posttest the experimental group achieved an average score of 75.40 while the
control group achieved an average score of 64.42. The results of the hypothesis
using independent samples t-test obtained with a significant 0.005, which means it
is less than 0.05, meaning that there is a significant difference in the average score
of critical thinking skills between the experimental group and the control group
after being given treatment.
Thus it can be concluded that learning cycle 5E assisted by mobile learning media
on momentum and impulse material has a good positive impact on students'
critical thinking skills. For this reason, the researcher recommends that school
principals be able to support teachers in learning cycle 5E Physics learning
activities assisted by mobile learning media in the school environment and for
teachers to be able to use them regularly or on other subject matter so that they
can familiarize students with more critical thinking skills. Good.
