Pengaruh Kompos Dan Jumlah Air Terhadap Pertumbuhan Bibit Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis Guineensis Jacq.) Di Pre Nursery
ABSTRACT
Oil palm is one of the plantation crops which plays a very important role for Indonesia as an export commodity and income for the people of Indonesia. This year, Riau is targeted to carry out replanting of 26,500 hectares. If there are 136 plants in every hectare, then 3,604,000 oil palm seeds with good quality conditions are needed. Efforts to increase the growth of oil palm seedlings include the application of fertilizers in the form of organic matter. Optimal growth of oil palm seedlings is also obtained if the plants get enough water for growth, then optimal water supply needs to be done. This study aims to determine and study the interaction of compost application and the amount of water on the growth of oil palm seedlings in the pre-nursery. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau. This research was conducted with a factorial experiment which was arranged based on a completely randomized design (CRD) which consisted of two factors, namely the Compost of Oil Palm Empty Bunches (EFB) which consisted of 3 levels, namely 0.5 kg, 0.75 kg and 1.0 kg and the amount of water is 100 ml, 200 ml and 300 ml. The results of this study indicate that the interaction of compost application and the amount of water increases humidity and plant height. Giving the amount of water increases the humidity of the planting medium, plant height, stem diameter and number of leaves and lowers the pH of the planting medium. The combination of adding 1 kg of compost and 200 ml of water resulted in the best average values for plant height, number of leaves and conditions of oil palm growing media.
