Sungai Gelombang Ecotourism is one of the tourist destinations that has
the potential to be developed if managed properly. Based on these conditions,
several problems that occur in the Sungai Gelombang ecotourism environment in
Sipungguk Village, Salo District, Kampar Regency can be formulated, among
others: what is the existing condition of the Sungai Gelombang ecotourism
environment today and what is the right strategy in managing the Sungai
Gelombang ecotourism environment. This study aims to analyze the existing
conditions of the Sungai Gelombang ecotourism environment and determine the
right strategy in managing the Sungai Gelombang ecotourism environment. This
research has benefits, among others, providing information and knowledge about
the environmental management of Sungai Gelombang ecotourism in Sipungguk
Village, Salo District, Kampar Regency which can be used as reference material
for parties in need.
The data used in this study were taken from two types of data sources,
namely primary data sources and secondary data sources. Primary data in this
study were taken through questionnaires, direct observation in the field,
documentation and in-depth interviews with the community, visitors and
stakeholders or parties related to the management of the Sungai Gelombang
ecotourism environment in Sipungguk Village, Salo District, Kampar Regency. As
for the type of secondary data obtained through books or journals related to
ecotourism environmental management. The data analysis used is descriptive data
analysis and to formulate the analysis strategy used is SWOT analysis.
Descriptive analysis serves to provide a description of the subject or object of
research in accordance with the existing conditions of reality. SWOT analysis
serves to determine the right strategy in managing the Sungai Gelombang
ecotourism environment in Sipungguk Village, Salo District, Kampar Regency.
The results of the analysis show that the existing ecological conditions of
the Sungai Gelombang ecotourism which include rainfall, current, brightness,
river area, color, depth, water temperature, pH, and water bottom are included in
normal conditions and support ecological functions, while vegetation and biota in
the river area, especially hydrilla, molluscs (shellfish), and macrozoobenthos
need to be considered as ecological bioindicators in order to preserve existing
biodiversity. The existing economic, socio-cultural and institutional conditions of
the Sungai Gelombang ecotourism environment are normal and supportive in
managing the Sungai Gelombang ecotourism environment. Based on SWOT
analysis of high strength aspects so that it can cover existing weaknesses (2.802:
0.398). The opportunities that exist in the Wave River ecotourism are also quite
high and can cover the various threats that exist (2.720: 0.380).
The right strategy in managing the Sungai Gelombang ecotourism
environment in Sipungguk Village, Salo District, Kampar Regency based on the
results of the analysis is the S-O (Strength - Opportunity) strategy. The strategy is
to improve the accessibility of the Sungai Gelombang ecotourism site. Increase

attractions by preserving customs by holding annual tourism events involving
local wisdom. Improve the quality of human resources through increased
education in the field of tourism.
