Strategi Adaptasi Masyarakat Terhadap Perubahan Iklim Di Kecamatan Sungai Batang Kabupaten Indragiri Hilir

Climate change clearly affects conditions in an environment or region,
whether it is an increase in disaster events or other aspects such as the economic,
social and ecological aspects of the affected area. How much the impact of climate
change is felt by the people in the affected areas certainly needs to be studied, this
is intended to find ways to overcome and adapt to climate change.
The Indragiri Hilir area, which is located in Riau Province, has an inflation
rate that is measured based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). Bank
Indonesia defines inflation as an increase in the price of goods and services in
general and continuously within a certain period of time. It is important to note that
increases in the prices of just one or two goods cannot be considered inflation,
unless the increases are large-scale or cause widespread increases in the prices of
goods and services..
This research can provide information on rainfall conditions in Sungai
Batang sub-district from monthly to yearly, this rainfall information can also
provide information on trends that occur from year to year, this trend information
can identify how climate change is occurring in Sungai Batang sub-district and the
impact of how climate change adaptation strategies need to be carried out.
Most of the Sungai Batang Subdistrict consists of lowlands, which are river
sediment areas with the contours of swamp areas and peat soils. This area is quite
affected by tides, it can be seen that many areas in Sungai Batang District are
separated by tributaries. Based on BPS data (2022) there are 3394 households in
Sungai Batang District where the number of men is 5318 people and women is 4952
people. In general, educational facilities in Sungai Batang District are only high
school, where people who wish to continue their education to tertiary level must
take the nearest one in Tembilahan.
This increase in rainfall can also be caused by the influence of both weather
and climate disturbances, causing the existing rainfall to increase significantly or
decrease significantly, these things can indicate that climate change has entered the
region.
In general, the age of the people in Sungai Batang sub-district is in the adult
group. This is quite helpful for the government both in terms of providing
understanding related to climate change adaptation information.
Based on the SWOT analysis, the climate change adaptation strategy chosen
for quadrant III is the W-O (Weakness – Opportunities) strategy. This strategy
combines internal factors, namely weaknesses, with external factors, namely
opportunities. The W-O strategy aims to take advantage of existing opportunities
while minimizing the weaknesses they have
