Pengaruh Penambahan Abu Layang (Sio2) Dan Foaming Agent (Ch3(Ch2)16coo-Na+) Dalam Batu Bata Ringan
SUMMARY Palm shell fly ash is a waste generated from the processing of palm oil industry, however, its utilization has not been widely studied. This study aims to utilize fly ash as a substitute for sand in the manufacture of lightweight bricks using the mixing method. This research was conducted with the % weight ratio of cement: foaming agent: sand: the fly ash of 0%, 5%, 10% and 15%. Both the fly ash and as-prepared brick were characterized using XRF, FTIR, SEM . The characteristics of as-prepared brick was further analyzed such as water absorption, volume weight and compressive strength. The XRF results indicated that the ash contains 53.307% SiO2 (filler), 64.605% CaO (adhesive) and 5.338% Fe2O3 (hardener). The FTIR confirmed the presence of bending Si-O-Si lattice at 450.07 cm-1 and 873.79 cm-1. The morphological image of as-prepared brick following the ash addition showed smaller and denser pore diameters that are responsible for better and stronger properties. The addition of the 10% fly ash to the brick is able to absorb water 25.10% with the volume weight of 806.63% and compressive strength of 8.5Mpa, which are all in accordance with standard National Indonesia (SNI).
