Karakterisasi Parsial, Aktivitas Hidrolitik Dan Antibakteri Aktinomisetes Dari Tanah Gambut Pulau Meranti
ABSTRACT
Peat soil is nutrient-rich in organic matter with high acidity and C-organic content causing various microorganisms to live in it, including actinomycetes. Actinomycetes has potential as a hydrolytic enzyme producer and a source of antibacterial compounds. This study aims to characterize, test the hydrolytic enzyme activity and antibacterial activity of three Meranti Island actinomycetes isolates. Characterization of growth using medium variations: SCA, ISP-2, ISP-3, and ISP-4; variations in environmental factors; temperature, NaCl and pH tolerance. The results obtained isolates KAT3 and KAT5 have cellulase, protease, amylase and lipase enzyme activities while KAT1 is only able to produce cellulase and amylase enzymes. Isolate KAT1 was able to inhibit L. monocytogenes and B. subtilis with inhibition zone diameters of 16.0 mm and 11.0 mm. Isolate KAT3 was able to inhibit S. typhimurium, B. subtilis and E. coli with inhibition zone diameters of 8.7 mm, 6.2 mm, and 4.8 mm. Isolate KAT5 was able to inhibit S. typhimurium and B. subtilis with inhibition zone diameters of 8.2 mm and 6.7 mm. The three isolates of actinomycetes in the future can be developed in the industrial and pharmaceutical fields.
