ABSTRACT
ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNICATION IN USE OF PEAT LAND BY LSM IKATAN PEMUDA MELAYU PEDULI LINGKUNGAN(IPMPL) IN BENGKALIS DISTRICT

Environmental Non-Governmental Organization-Malay Youth Association (LSM-IPMPL) is a non-governmental organization or association of individuals who are legal entities, institutions consisting of individuals who care about the environment in the interests of the nation and state. The purpose of this study was to find out the environmental communication used by the IPMPL LSM to carry out peatland utilization activities in the Bengkalis district area and the forms of collaboration carried out by the IPMPL LSM with stakeholders for the implementation of peatland utilization activities.
This study used a qualitative research method with a descriptive analysis presentation, namely by describing the condition of the subject or research object based on the facts that appeared. The informants of this study consisted of 6 people according to the criteria selected using a purposive technique. Data collection techniques consisted of interviews, observation and documentation. To check the validity of the data using the extension of participation.
The results of this study indicate that in the process of environmental communication carried out by the IPMPL LSM to carry out peatland utilization activities in the form of planting peat-specific plants, namely gerunggang, the communicator, namely the chairman of the IPMPL LSM and assisted by a farmer group that has been formed, where the activities carried out The aim is to achieve IPMPL's vision and mission, namely a Green Indonesia free of forest fires and prosperous community land. Therefore the message conveyed is also in the form of the importance of protecting the environment by utilizing a typical yellow lancing earth plant commonly known as potpourri or gerunggang tree. The process of conveying these messages is assisted by stakeholders so that the implementation of these activities can be reached by a wide audience, not just the people of Bengkalis Regency. Collaboration in solving environmental problems is a complex problem that requires the cooperation of all parties to solve it, IPMPL LSM do not have their own media but in practice IPMPL LSM also collaborate with several stakeholders to convey information to a wide audience.
