Persepsi Dan Motivasi Remaja Putri ”Sadari”
Breast cancer is a major health problem in Indonesia and other countries, because it is a terminal disease that can lead to death. The majority of sufferers are young, including adolescents, and if not detected early will develop into malignant cells. Therefore, it is necessary to have public health efforts, namely through clinical and individual breast examinations. Breast self-examination (BSE) aims to find out if there is a lump in a woman's breast that can develop into cancer. This qualitative descriptive research aims to explore the perceptions and motivations of adolescent girls about BSE. The research results obtained from seven participants obtained six themes, namely 1) breast cancer is a dangerous disease, 2) breast health is a woman's domain and responsibility, 3) digital media is the main source of BSE information, 4) adolescents' understanding of BSE, 5) the readiness and educational needs of BSE in adolescents and 6) the experience of doing BSE. The views of adolescent girls regarding breast cancer are one of the factors that motivate them regarding efforts to detect early breast cancer. However, a high level of knowledge and motivation also does not guarantee a person's good attitude and behavior regarding BSE. This research is expected to be the basis for information and evaluation material for readers regarding the optimization of breast health education strategies for adolescents.
