ABSTRACT
China is expanding its investment within the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) framework. One of the destinations for Chinese investment within the BRI framework is located in the Galang Batang Special Economic Zone (SEZ), in Bintan Regency, Riau Archipelago Province. Of the many investments made by China, the investments they provide are often accompanied by their interests. Through this research, researchers discuss the patterns of Chinese investment interests in the Galang Batang Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for 2021-2022 by looking at these investment patterns.
This research uses qualitative research methods, with primary and secondary data collection techniques such as analyzing documents, journals, books, and other valid sources. This study uses the perspective of Liberalism and the theory of Strength Structure in FDI.
The results of this research showed the pattern of Chinese investment interests through the Galang Batang SEZ project within the BRI framework such as accessing Indonesia's natural resources in the form of bauxite by utilizing domestic downstream efforts, creating jobs for its citizens in investment projects through this pattern there are follow-up patterns such as the use of the renminbi currency to finance the salaries of their local workers, the next pattern of interest are the use of technology in investment projects, and last pattern is making SEZ an investment destination.
