ABSTRACT
Efforts to increase red chili production in Indonesia face various obstacles,
one of which is the armyworm (Spodoptera litura F.) attack. Control of this pest
can be done by using vegetable insecticides from lime leaves (Citrus aurantifolia
Swingle.). This study aims to obtain an effective concentration of lime leaf extract
to control the Spodoptera litura armyworm on red chili plants. The research was
carried out at the Laboratory of Plant Pests and the Screen House of the
Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, which was
carried out for three months from November 2022 to January 2023. The study was
carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting
of five treatments with four replications to obtain 20 experimental units. The results
showed that the different concentrations of lime leaf powder extract had a
significant effect on the mortality of Spodoptera litura larvae. The concentration of
100 g.l-1 water is effective in controlling S. litura larvae because it can cause 85%
total smortality with an initial death time of 27.5 hours and a lethal time of 50 at
54.5 hours after application. The correct concentration of lime leaf powder extract
to kill 50% of the population of S. litura larvae is 2.25% or the equivalent of 22.5
g.l-1 water.
