Perempuan Pengutip Biji Sawit Di Kelurahan Pangkalan Lesung Kecamatan Pangkalan Lesung Kabupaten Pelalawan
This research was conducted in Pangkalan Lesung Village, Pangkalan Lesung Sub-district, Pelalawan Regency with the aim of knowing the socio-economic conditions and survival strategies applied in the families of women who collect palm kernels. This research used descriptive qualitative method by taking informants as many as 7 people. This research uses snowball sampling technique and data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The theory used of survival strategies. The results of research in the field can be concluded that the low economic level in the family makes women have multiple roles to support the family economy. The socio-economic condition of women who collect palm kernels is still classified as low as evidenced by the income that is not stable because it is influenced by the number of palm kernels, working hours and difficulty dividing time between domestic and public roles. The survival strategies applied in the families of women who collect palm kernels are active strategies, passive strategies, and network strategies. The active strategy applied is to increase working hours. The passive strategy is to save money. The network strategy creates a good relationship with relatives, palm oil plantation owners, and other family members. Then the network they have built is reapplied when difficulties occurs.
