Sintesis Katalis Cao-Sio2 dari Cangkang Kerang Darah dan Sabut Kelapa Untuk Produksi Biodiesel dengan Variasi Berat Katalis, Waktu dan Suhu Reaksi
CaO catalyst from blood cockle shells calcined for 5 hours at 900oC is a heterogeneous catalyst commonly used for biodiesel synthesis. However, the surface area of the CaO catalyst is still too low so it needs to be modified with porous materials such as silica (SiO2) from coconut fiber to increase its catalytic activity. The aim of this research is to synthesize a CaO catalyst from blood cockle shells impregnated with SiO2 from coconut fiber with concentrations of 3%, 5% and 7% (w/w). The resulting catalyst was characterized using the Brunauer Emmett Teller (BET) method showing that the surface area of the 5% CaO-SiO2 catalyst had a larger surface area than the 3% and 7% CaO-SiO2 catalysts. The results of analysis using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) show that the 3%, 5% and 7% CaO-SiO2 catalysts have a lumpy morphology and the surface looks rough. The EDX spectrum results show that the sample contains the main elements such as Ca, Si and O. Based on basicity analysis, the 3% CaO-SiO2 catalyst has high basicity and in the acidity analysis using the pyridine vapor method the 5% CaO-SiO2 catalyst has low acidity tall. The catalyst was applied to the triglyceride transesterification reaction with methanol for biodiesel production from Crude Palm Oil (CPO) with optimization using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) design. The catalyst is applied to biodiesel production with optimization using the Response Surace Methodology (RSM) design. Based on the research results, the highest biodiesel yield was obtained on a 5% CaO-SiO2 catalyst with a catalyst weight of 2 g , a reaction temperature of 60oC, a reaction time of 90 minutes, an oil: methanol mole ratio of 1: 9 and a stirring speed of 500 rpm. Characterization of biodiesel produced from 3%, 5% and 7% CaO-SiO2 catalysts has water content, specific gravity, viscosity and carbon residue which generally meets the quality requirements of SNI 7182-2015, except for the acid number.
