Social Media has enabled the birth of new forms of social organization as well as providing new styles of communicating and seeking information for the public. Social media is then transformed into a "new weapon" for organizations or institutions in disseminating messages and information to the public, including the police. This can be seen in the social media planning used by the Riau Regional Police Community Relations (Humas Polda Riau). Instagram and Facebook social media planning is put forward for publicity and the latest information relating to information about the police.
This study uses qualitative research methods and is analyzed with the concept of Some, which is The Circular Model of SOME. The subject in this study is social media communication planning on the Riau Police Public Relations media. Data collection was carried out through documentation studies, observations, and interviews. Data analysis techniques by reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. In addition, the technique of checking the validity of the data uses source and method triangulation.
The results of this study indicate that utilizing technological developments in the field of social media to disseminate information related to police activities themselves. The ease of conveying information about Riau Police Public Relations between communities and police officers makes it easier to carry out their public relations duties. Therefore, it is necessary to use social media optimally in the Riau Regional Police Public Relations task in providing information services for Riau regional police activities. It is supported using the SoMe concept.
