Aktivitas Corporate Communication Dalam Menjalankan Media Relation Guna Mempertahankan Citra Pt Pertamina Hulu Rokan Wilayah Kerja Rokan
PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan is one of the largest oil and gas companies in Indonesia. PT PHR has successfully maintained its reputation during the transition period from foreign ownership. As a company with a large and extensive public presence, it requires a tool to disseminate information related to the company to the public, namely through mass media. The distribution of information through the media has a significant impact on the preservation of the company's image due to its fast and easily accessible nature for the public. To achieve the goal of maintaining this image, the company continues to make efforts to maintain its relationship with the media through various Media Relation activities.
This research aims to analyze the Media Relation activities carried out by Corporate Communication in preserving the image of PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan in the Rokan Working Area. The research uses a descriptive qualitative research method. The subjects of this research are 4 Corporate Communication employees, selected based on specific criteria using purposive sampling techniques. Data collection is done through interview, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique involves collecting data, reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions.
The results of the research show that Corporate Communication employs Media Relation communication strategies, namely By serving the media, By supplying good copy, By providing verification facilities, By building personal relationships with the media, and By Establishing standards in facing the media. The company engages in 7 Media Relation activities, including Press Release, Media gathering, Press Luncheon, Media visit, Press Conference, Press tour, and Special Event. In its implementation, there are three supporting factors: human resource capabilities, the availability of funds, and support from leadership. Additionally, there are 2 inhibiting factors, namely journalist jealousy and the presence of certain types of journalists that can hinder Corporate Communication in its efforts to maintain the company's image.
