Meningkatkan Literasi Sains Peserta Didik Melalui Penerapan Model Pembelajaran Icare Dengan Berbantuan Aplikasi Assemblr Edu Pada Materi Sistem Tata Surya Kelas VII SMP
Science literacy is one of the skills needed in the 21st century among the 16 skills identified by Word Econimic. Literacy is not just reading and writing, but by adding information and knowledge about science with any learning source, the ability to have critical thinking skills, be able to solve problems, be able to communicate well and be able to participate in society is also part of good science literacy. Meanwhile, the results of several studies show that the level of literacy of students in Indonesia is still at a low level. As in the research conducted by Maulina in 2022, junior high school students in Bandar Lampung city have low science literacy skills, this is measured through solving science literacy questions. The causes of the low science literacy of students include the curriculum and education system, the selection of learning methods or models by teachers, the media and tools used in learning and also teaching materials that are not in accordance with the times. One model that is expected to improve students' science literacy on solar system material is the ICARE learning model. The ICARE learning model is a learning model consisting of five stages, namely Intruduction, connection, Application, Reflection, and Extension.
The purpose of this study was to describe the science literacy of students and find out the application of the ICARE learning model assisted by assemblr edu application on solar system material in class VII SMP. This research was conducted at MTs Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru in September-December 2023. The type of research conducted is Quasy Experiment with the research design is posttest-only control group design. The population in this study were all students of class VII MTs Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru which amounted to 302 students. The data obtained from this study were analyzed using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Based on the results of descriptive analysis, the average posttest value of the class that applied the ICARE learning model assisted by assemblr edu application was higher at 83.3% with a good category, while the average value obtained by the class that only applied conventional learning was lower at 70.2% with a sufficient category. Thus, based on descriptive analysis, it can be said that the application of the ICARE learning model assisted by assemblr edu application can improve students' science literacy skills.
Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the science literacy skills of students increase in terms of the average value of classes that apply the ICARE learning model assisted by assemblr edu application is higher than classes that only apply conventional learning and there is a difference in the level of literacy skills between experimental classes that apply the ICARE learning model assisted by assemblr edu application and control classes that apply conventional learning. Where the experimental class has a higher average value than the control class. Thus it can be concluded that the learning process using the ICARE learning model assisted by assemblr edu application is considered effective to improve students' science literacy skills on solar system materi
