Sintesis Dan Karakterisasi Katalis Cao-Sio2 Cangkang Kerang Darah Dan Abu Sabut Pinang Suhu Kalsinasi 800°C Untuk Produksi Biodiesel Dari Cpo
The CaO catalyst derived from blood cockle shells used for biodiesel synthesis has the weakness of a small surface area, so it needs to be modified with a porous material to increase its catalytic activity. One of the porous materials used is SiO2, which comes from areca palm ash. The aim of this research is to synthesize a CaO catalyst modified by SiO2 from areca palm ash using the wet impregnation method with variations in the weight of silica to CaO of 3, 5, and 7% w/w, and calcined at a temperature of 800˚C for 3 hours. The catalyst was characterized using the Brunauer Emmet-Teller (BET) method to determine the surface area, pore volume and pore radius of the catalyst, Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) to analyze the functional groups contained in the catalyst, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) to analyze type of mineral, crystal size, and catalyst crystallinity, and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) to analyze the chemical composition of the catalyst. Analysis using BET shows that the surface area of CaO-SiO2 has increased area 4.21 m2 g-1 to 73.80 m2 g-1. The results of FTIR analysis show that there are absorption band peaks 3642.73 cm-1, 1792.91 cm-1, 1440.80 cm-1, 951.91 cm-1, 874.76 cm-1, and 490.90 cm-1 indicating the presence of the OH functional group, C=O symmetry stretching vibration, vibration O-C-O symmetry stretching, Si-OH group stretching vibrations, Si-O-Si asymmetry stretching vibrations, and Ca-O bonds. XRD analysis shows the presence of Portlandite Ca(OH)2 and Lime CaO minerals. XRF analysis for the CaO-SiO2 catalysts 3, 5, and 7% w/w shows that the SiO2 composition has increased. Based on the optimum results using RSM, the highest biodiesel yield was obtained using a CaO-SiO2 5% catalyst at a catalyst weight of 3 g, oil: methanol mole ratio of 1:6, and a reaction time of 90 minutes, with a yield of 98.51%. Characteristics of biodiesel produced from a CaO-SiO2 5% catalyst include a water content of 0.03%, a specific gravity of 873 kg m-3, a viscosity of 4.89 mm2 s-1, a carbon residue of 0%, and an acid number of 4.03 mg KOH g-1. The characterization results show that all biodiesel meets the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 7182-2015), except for the acid number.
