The survey results stated that there are various problems in learning physics. Physics material such as rotational dynamics and equilibrium of rigid bodies is a material that is difficult for students to understand. Critical thinking skills in the learning process have not been empowered optimally. The initial survey showed that of the 5 aspects of critical thinking ability indicators, the inference aspect had the highest percentage, while the aspect of providing further explanation had the lowest percentage. The overall score of the critical thinking ability test on a scale of 100 from 62 students at SMAN 1 Perhentian Raja showed an average score of 53, with 12 students getting a score above 60. Only 30% of students at SMAN 1 Perhentian Raja had learning motivation in the high and very high categories. Based on previous research, it is stated that the combination of blended learning media and the PBL model can improve students' critical thinking skills and learning motivation. Therefore, PBL-based blended learning media using Edunext Openedx is needed in the physics learning process, especially in the material of rotational dynamics and equilibrium.
This research aims to describe the development of PBL-based blended learning media using Edunext Openedx, produce PBL-based blended learning media using Edunext Openedx that is valid and practical, and determine the increase in students' critical thinking skills and learning motivation after learning through blended learning media. PBL based using Edunext Openedx. The benefits provided are the quality of critical thinking skills and increased learning motivation of students, the application of blended learning media as an alternative for teachers and schools in learning physics which also has an impact on the quality of education in a country, and as a reference material for other researchers in improving quality of physics learning.
The type of research applied is a combination of development and experimentation. Development uses the ADDIE-type Instructional Design model which consists of 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This PBL-based blended learning media was validated by 4 validators using a validity assessment sheet, and its practicality was tested by 3 teachers and 15 students using a practicality assessment sheet. The type of experiment used was quasi-experimental (Quasi-Experimental) with a research design namely a nonequivalent control group design. The population in this study included all class XI MIPA students at SMA Negeri 1 Perhentian Raja with 2 samples, namely the experimental class and the control class. The experimental class was given treatment in the form of applying PBL-based blended learning media using Edunext Openedx in the learning process, while the control class only had conventional learning processes. Before and after the material has been taught, students are given a critical thinking ability test and a learning motivation questionnaire consisting of a pretest and posttest. Research data in the form of pretest and posttest results are processed quantitatively and displayed in graphs to see the level of students' critical thinking abilities and learning motivation. Differences in critical thinking abilities and learning motivation between the experimental class and the control class were analyzed using the n-gain test and MANOVA test to determine the effectiveness of the blended learning media produced.
The research results showed that the PBL-based blended learning media using Edunext Openedx on rotational dynamics and equilibrium material was declared valid by the validator with an average score of 3.34 (very high). Teachers as practitioners stated that PBL-based blended learning media using Edunext Openedx was practically used in physics learning with an average score of 3.58 (very high). Students also stated that PBL-based blended learning media using Edunext Openedx was practical to use in physics learning with an average score of 3.76 (very high). Descriptive research results showed that the experimental class had a higher average score of critical thinking ability and learning motivation compared to the control class. This is shown by the experimental class's n-gain score of 0.867 (high) which is higher compared to the control class's n-gain score of 0.667 (medium).
