Kaji Eksperimental Sistem Manajemen Termal Baterai Kendaraan Listrik Dengan Heat Pipe Dan Penambahan Graphene Pada Phase Change Material (PCM)
A battery is a device for storing energy and releasing it in the form of electric power. It plays an important role in the operation of electric cars. The use of battery packs has been widely used as a component of electrical machines in various fields, such as in electric vehicles. This is due to the battery's ability to have high energy density, long cycle life, and so on. Heat dissipation is a major issue in battery capability, especially for high power applications. Paraffin wax is commonly used as a Phase Change Material (PCM) for thermal management in Li-ion battery packs. In order to improve the performance of the PCM, graphene flake is used as an additive to enhance the thermal conductivity performance of paraffin wax. Experimental methods were conducted to determine the effect of using heat pipes and paraffin wax on temperature changes in electric vehicle battery simulators with power variations of 22 watts, 44 watts, and 66 watts. In the application using only 66 watts heat pipe reduced the battery surface temperature from 86.9 ℃ to 45.1 ℃ while in the application of heat pipe and PCM reduced the temperature from 86.9 ℃ to 39.6 ℃. Therefore, the combination of heat pipe and paraffin wax can be used as a battery cooler.
