Jurnalisme Kloning (Cloning Journalism) Di Lembaga Serikat Media Siber Indonesia (SMSI) Riau (Analisis Pelanggaran Kode Etik Jurnalistik)
The background of this research is because cyber mass media or an online media, is developing rapidly in Riau Province. According to the data from Press Council, Riau Province has the largest number of cyber media in Indonesia. Most of them are members of the Indonesian Cyber Media Union (SMSI) Riau. The large number of cyber media is not comparable to the number of journalists in this area, which makes it as one of the factors for the practices of cloning journalism or news duplication on every single cyber media that exists in Riau, including SMSI Riau. There are also many other factors that cause the practice of clone journalism in cyber media that join SMSI Riau. Those practices were done repeatedly and deliberately. And not just by the journalist on the field, but also from the initiative and even orders from their superiors or the media supervisor. In fact, the practice of clone journalism violates the regulations, violates the Cyber Media Reporting Guidelines as well as the Journalistic Code of Ethics.
The goal of this research is to identify how cloned journalism practices happens in cyber media at SMSI Riau and at the same time to analyze the violation of journalist code of ethics regarding the practices of cloned journalism. Even though there are clear and firm regulations for press companies in Indonesia, which includes cyber media companies, the practice of cloned journalism is prohibited. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with an ethnographic approach to look at the behavior that is the habit of several journalists and several cyber media companies in carrying out clone journalism practices. Ethnography can be known as an in-depth analysis of a social group in collecting information and data through observation, interviews and documentation.
The results of this research shows that the practice of clone journalism occurs in cyber media within SMSI Riau. Especially during the covid-19 era, the practice of clone journalism is increasing because income business interests, a number of cyber media at SMSI Riau have laid off their journalists, so that the quantity of news produced is decreasing due to the limited number of journalists and limited company budget. On the other hand, the implementation of sanctions for violations of rules and ethics against cyber media that carry out clone journalism practices is also not carried out, so that this prohibited practice continues to be carried out repeatedly. Finally, guidance and strict sanctions are needed from the authorized institutions so that the practice of clone journalism is stopped and no longer carried out in cyber media at SMSI Riau, as well as throughout Indonesia.
