Faktor-Faktor Fluktuasi Volume Impor Tembakau Dari Brasil Ke Indonesia Pada Tahun 2014-2022
Indonesia conducts international trade to fulfill its national need for a commodity, ssnamely tobacco. Tobacco is a seasonal plantation commodity that is usually used for cigarette making and Indonesia, with the highest cigarette consumption, needs tobacco as well. Although Indonesia cultivates and produces tobacco, it cannot meet the high national demand. Therefore, Indonesia imports tobacco from Brazil as the world's largest tobacco producing country. Over time, there are fluctuations in tobacco imports that involve many factors.
This research is qualitative research with secondary data collection taken from journals, news and official websites. This thesis is in accordance with the theme of using international trade theory put forward by Hecsker-Ohlin as an explanation and/or complement to the theory of comparative advantage which has not been explained previously regarding the factors causing differences in productivity between countries. Then, use the import concept put forward by Gregory Mankiw which has 6 factors influencing exports and imports.
Indonesia imports tobacco from Brazil to meet its national needs. However, fluctuations occur in the volume of tobacco imports from Brazil, this occurs due to factors such as the following. High consumer appetite for tobacco products, namely cigarettes. Thus, it can affect the level of public welfare; The price of Brazilian tobacco is quite cheap not much different from Indonesia despite the difference in the exchange rate between Rupiah and Real; The passing of import duty policies and the increase in tobacco excise by Indonesia; Ratification of the FCTC by Brazil; and the high production of Indonesian tobacco and the decline in Brazilian tobacco production.
