A role is a collection of duties, responsibilities and expectations associated with a particular position or position within an organization. The Pekanbaru City Transportation Department provides public transportation, namely the Trans Metro Pekanbaru bus, which aims to provide transportation services to the community. The problems found in the field are that there are still TMP buses that break down while they are operating and the condition of the bus doors is damaged, there are stop facilities that are no longer suitable and damaged on the seats and ceiling and the AC is not functioning on the bus, decreasing public interest. using TMP due to the implementation of a non-cash payment system. This research aims to determine the role of the Transportation Department in Trans Metro city transportation services in Pekanbaru City. This research uses role theory according to Jim Ife and Frank Tesoriero in Khairunnisa (2023) with 4 indicators, namely: Facilitative Role, Educational Role, Representational Role, Technical Role. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method with data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. The results of this research explain the role of the Transportation Service in Trans Metro city transportation services in Pekanbaru City, which can be said to be quite good, but there are several obstacles such as a limited budget and TMP bus routes that do not yet reach areas according to community needs.
