"One of the political topics currently under the spotlight of society is the political contest in the pursuit of the presidential leadership seat of the Republic of Indonesia in 2024. This spotlight involves key figures such as Anies Baswedan, Ganjar Pranowo, and Prabowo Subianto as Presidential Candidates for the Republic of Indonesia in 2024. Coverage regarding presidential candidates naturally becomes the focus of media attention, including digital media such as metrotvnews.com. This digital media outlet was chosen due to its close association with one of the 2024 presidential candidates from the Nasdem Party, namely Anies Baswedan. The aim of this research is to critique and understand the differences in approaches in the coverage of Anies Baswedan, Ganjar Pranowo, and Prabowo Subianto as Presidential Candidates for the 2024 General Election on Metrotvnews.com.
This research adopts a qualitative method using the framing analysis of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki. The research object consists of four news articles regarding the Presidential Election available on metrotvnews.com. Data was collected through observation and document analysis. Data analysis techniques began with understanding the news, analyzing the research objects, and combining them with supporting data. Data validity was checked through careful observation and discussion.
Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that the framing of the coverage on the three presidential candidates for 2024 by metrotvnews.com, using the four framing analysis devices of Zhongdang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki, is heavily influenced by the ownership of this digital media outlet by Surya Paloh, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nasdem Party. Anies Baswedan, as a presidential candidate supported by the Nasdem Party, is more prominently featured in the coverage, as evidenced by the use of quotes from sources, leads, headlines, and images that emphasize Anies Baswedan compared to Ganjar Pranowo and Prabowo Subianto.".
