Komunikasi Lingkungan Masyarakat Peduli Api (Mpa) Dalam Mengatasi Kebakaran Lahan Di Desa Pakning Asal Kabupaten Bengkalis
One of the efforts to prevent fires is through community engagement involving the Masyarakat Peduli Api (MPA). Effective environmental communication supports the role of MPA as the frontline in responding to forest and land fires (karhutla). This activity helps increase public awareness of the dangers of karhutla, encourages participation in prevention and mitigation efforts, and strengthens cooperation in preserving nature. Pakning Asal Village, where the majority of its land is peatland and prone to fires, has an MPA group that is proactive in responding to and coordinating during fires. This study aims to analyze the implementation of MPA's environmental communication and its obstacles in facing fire situations in Pakning Asal Village.
The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative method. The subjects of this study were 9 individuals selected purposively. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation study. Data analysis techniques involved data reduction, presentation, and drawing conclusions. Additionally, this research employed data validity checks using source triangulation.
The results show that the implementation of communication by the MPA in addressing fires in Pakning Asal village has been effective. Activities include socializing to the community to advise against burning and conducting routine patrols or monitoring in fire-prone areas. Moreover, in facing fires, MPA always acts promptly to extinguish them. Various obstacles were encountered by MPA in addressing fires in Pakning Asal Village, including physical and social barriers. In conclusion, the Masyarkat Peduli Api (MPA) has conducted environmental communication in addressing fires in Pakning Asal Village. MPA educates and encourages the community, especially in Pakning Asal Village, to participate in environmental preservation, particularly by refraining from burning land.
