Pengaruh Intensitas Bermain Game Online Terhadap Perilaku Prokrastinasi Akademik Pada Komunitas Riau University E-Sport (Rue) Di Pekanbaru
Online games are a form of entertainment connected through the internet. Excessive engagement in online gaming can have negative consequences, leading to addiction. For students addicted to online gaming, a significant amount of time is spent playing, causing neglect of academic responsibilities and contributing to academic procrastination. The recent rise of esports, or electronic sports, has become a prominent phenomenon. Esports involve competitive gaming as the primary field of competition. The aim of this research is to examine the influence of online gaming intensity on academic procrastination behavior within the Riau University Esports Community (RUE) in Pekanbaru. This research uses quantitative research methods. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and documentation. How to distribute questionnaires. Respondents in this study were members of Riau University E- Sport (RUE).
After distributing the questionnaire, researchers analyzed the data using the SPSS for Windows version 25 application with simple linear regression analysis. Where the intensity of playing online games is the X variable and academic procrastination is the Y variable. The results of a simple linear regression analysis show that the coefficient value in this study is Y = 0.571– 0.577X where the constant number (a) is 0.571 and the variable X coefficient is
0.577. Meanwhile, the t count of 4,935 is greater when compared to the t-table of 2048. Where H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted with a significance of 0.05. So it can be concluded that there is an influence between the intensity of playing online games on academic procrastination at Riau University E-Sport (RUE) in the low category (in the interval table 20%- 39.9%) with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 21.8%.
