Makna Simbolik Tradisi Mangambat Boru Tulang Pada Acara Adat Pernikahan Suku Mandailing Di Duri Kecamatan Mandau

The Mangambat Boru Tulang tradition is a culture found in the Mandailing tribe. In the Mangambat Boru Tulang tradition there are symbolic aspects that have certain meanings which are presented through human attributes and behavior in the Mangambat Boru Tulang tradition. Unfortunately, there has been a cultural shift in the Mangambat Boru Tulang tradition at traditional Mandailing wedding ceremonies in Duri, Mandau District. This research aims to determine the meaning of symbolic situations, the meaning of social interaction products and the meaning of the interpretation of the Mangambat Boru Bone tradition at the traditional wedding ceremony of the Mandailing tribe in Duri, Mandau sub-district.
The research method uses a qualitative method, data collection techniques used are observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this research is a data analysis model following the concept provided by Miles and Huberman. The technique for determining informants used a purposive technique, the informants in this study were 6 people, namely the traditional leader, Hatobangan, parents of the bride and groom, the Mandailing tribe community, the bride and the groom. The theory used in research on the Mangambat Boru Tulang tradition at the traditional wedding ceremony of the Mandailing tribe in Duri, Mandau District uses Hubert Blumer's Symbolic Interaction theory.
Based on the research results of this study, it shows that the meaning of symbolic situations in the Mangambat Boru Tulang tradition at the traditional wedding ceremony of the Mandailing tribe in Duri, Mandau District consists of physical objects and social objects. The meaning of social interaction products includes the meaning of each informant. The meaning of the interpretation of the Mangambat Boru Tulang tradition includes open actions and closed actions. Interestingly, this research has novelty value in that it turns out there is a cultural shift in the attributes in the tradition, namely young coconut which is replaced with instant bottled drinks and the completeness of ni boru items in the attributes used and the bride and groom do not yet know the meaning of implementing the Mangambat Boru Tulang tradition at traditional events.
