Hubungan Fungsi Kognitif Dengan Tingkat Ketergantungan Pemenuhan Kebutuhan Activity Daily Living (Adl) Pada Pasien Stroke
Background: Stroke is caused by reduced blood flow to the brain. Brain damage due to stroke can increase the risk of decreased cognitive function so that stroke patients become dependent on others in performing activities of daily living. This study aims to identify the relationship between cognitive function and the level of dependence on fulfilling ADL in stroke patients. Methods: This study used descriptive analysis. The sample of this study was stroke patients in the inpatient room of Arifin Achmad Hospital as many as 53 respondents taken using a cross sectional approach. Data collection technique using Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) questionnaire and Barthel Index. Bivariate analysis using Spearman rho test. Result: The results obtained from 53 respondents showed that the majority of respondents were in the late elderly category 56-65 years 22 respondents (41.5%) were male 28 respondents (52.8%) with elementary school education level 20 respondents (37.7%) who experienced severe cognitive function impairment 35 respondents (66.0%) and severe ADL activity limitations 27 respondents (50.9%). The results of statistical tests show that there is a relationship between cognitive function and the level of dependence on fulfilling ADL needs in stroke patients obtained a p-value (0.000) < α = (0.05). Conclusion: Cognitive function has a significant relationship with the level of dependence in fulfilling ADLs in stroke patients.
