This article examines the socio-economic dynamics of communities along the irrigation canal of the Sungai Paku Dam from 1980 to 2019. The problems studied in this article concern the condition of the Sungai Paku Village area and the development process before the construction of the Sungai Paku Dam. The Sungai Paku Dam and its impact on the social and economic aspects of the community along the dam's irrigation canal. The author studies it with an environmental sociology approach and uses Louis Gottschalk's historical method. These methods include heuristic, validation, interpretation, and historiography. The area where the Sungai Paku Dam was built is the Pio River watershed. The impact caused by the presence of this dam can be positive or negative. The environmental impacts caused by the existence of the Sungai Paku Dam include flood control, freshwater fish farming, rice field irrigation, increased agricultural productivity, and the efficiency of the use of hydroelectric power plants.
