The Center for Natural Resources Conservation (BBKSDA) as a government agency carries out its role in protecting flora and fauna. One of the protected flora is the Sumatran elephant by carrying out environmental communication through the Sumatran elephant conservation program to educate the public about how important it is to maintain elephant footprints, balance the ecosystem and minimize conflict or negative relationships between elephants and humans. The aim of this research is to analyze the implementation of BBKSDA's environmental communication in restoring elephant habitat through the Sumatran elephant conservation program in Balairaja Duri and to analyze the obstacles to environmental communication in elephant habitat restoration by BBKSDA through the elephant conservation program in Balairaja Duri.
This research uses qualitative methods by presenting descriptive analysis. The informants in this study consisted of 6 people according to the criteria selected using purposive techniques. Data collection techniques in this research were through interviews, observation and documentation. With data analysis techniques using data reduction, presentation and drawing conclusions. The data inspection technique used is data triangulation.
The results of this research indicate that the implementation of communication carried out by the Center for Natural Resources Conservation in Restoring Elephant Habitat through the Sumatran Elephant Conservation Program at Balairaja Duri has gone well. Environmental communication is carried out through Communication Actors by socializing the Sumatran elephant conservation program to provide an appeal to the public to protect the environment by not using forest land and maintaining elephant footprints. BBKSDA also carries out Environmental Communication Messages to educate the public about how important it is to protect the footprints of elephants, Environmental Communication Audiences by monitoring elephant movements to find out where elephants are and Environmental Communication Media by conveying messages about the environment and planting food crops with the aim of minimizing conflicts or relationships. negative. The obstacles experienced by BBKSDA in efforts to restore elephant habitat in Balairaja are various, such as limited population monitoring tools, limited human resources (HR) and lack of awareness in some communities
