Prevalensi Gejala Premenstrual Syndrome (Pms) Dan Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (Pmdd) Pada Mahasiswi
Background: Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) are disorders experienced by women in the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle that interfere with daily activities. This study aims to determine the prevalence of Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) and Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) symptoms in Riau University female students. Methods: This study used a descriptive cross-sectional method on 390 female students at Riau University which was calculated using the slovin formula with non probability sampling selection. The instrument used was a questionnaire based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fourth Edition - Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR). The data obtained was then subjected to univariate analysis. Results: The results showed that the majority of respondents were 21-23 years old with normal menarche age, had normal menstrual cycles, regular menstrual patterns, and menstrual duration of 1-8 days, and experienced PMS with mild symptoms totaling 46.2%, respondents who experienced PMS with moderate symptoms totaled 44.1%, respondents who experienced PMDD totaled 9.2%, and respondents who did not experience PMS or PMDD symptoms totaled 0.5%. Conclusion: This study shows that the most mild PMS symptoms experienced by respondents are indicators of feeling sad and sensitive or irritable, the most moderate PMS symptoms experienced by respondents are indicators of back pain and the most PMDD symptoms experienced by respondents are indicators of laziness. This study can be used as basic data for further researchers to analyze the factors that influence the incidence of PMS and PMDD in Riau University students.
