Gambaran Upaya Pencegahan Phlebitis Oleh Perawat Pelaksana Di Ruang Rawat Inap Rsud Arifin Achmad Provinsi Riau

Introduction: Phlebitis is inflammation of the vein wall due to trauma from infusion, accompanied by pain, warmth, redness, and swelling at the insertion area. Nurses are an important part of providing nursing care to patients directly for 24 hours and play a role in giving intravenous therapy. This study aims to see an overview of efforts to prevent phlebitis by nurses in the inpatient room of Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital, Riau Province. Method: Sampling used a purposive sampling technique with a sample of 97 nurses. The data analysis method uses univariate data analysis. Data were collected using an observation checklist sheet according to the SOP for installing Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital infusions. Results: The results of this study showed that the majority of respondents were female, namely 83 nurses (85.6%). The majority of respondents were in the age range 26-35 years (early adulthood) as many as 45 nurses (46.4%). Most nurses' final education was as a nurse, 53 nurses (54.6%). Most respondents' work period was 1-5 years, and as many as 33 nurses (34.0%). 55 nurses were implementing good efforts to prevent phlebitis in the inpatient room (56.7%), 66 nurses implementing efforts to maintain hand hygiene (68.0%), 97 nurses using Personal Protective Equipment (100%), 97 nurses not performed skin antiseptic circularly from the inside to the outside (100%), 86 nurses chose the insertion location correctly (88.7%), and 83 nurses carried out observation of the patient's venous catheter (85.6%). Conclusion: The nurses have made good efforts to prevent phlebitis in the inpatient room at Arifin Achmad Regional Hospital according to the SOP for infusion installation established at the hospital. Nurses should continue to evaluate efforts to prevent phlebitis to improve the quality of nursing services in hospitals.
