Gambaran Faktor Risiko Tertusuk Jarum Dalam Penerapan Praktik Menyuntik Pada Mahasiswa Profesi Ners
Background: Needle stick injury is an injury resulting from being exposed to injection needles which can occur due to several factors and can cause transmission of blood-borne infections such as HIV, HCV and HBV. This study aims to determine the risk factors for needle stick injury in the application of injection practice among nursing professional students. Methods: This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a correlation design and cross-sectional approach. The research sample consisted of 140 nursing professional students from the Faculty of Nursing, Riau University, with a sampling technique is total sampling. The instrument used is a questionnaire and this research uses univariate analysis. Result: There are 31 students had a needle stick injury, most often occurs in women, 28 people, and most often occurs in people aged 21-25 years, 31 people. There were 24 students who had worked, the most needle stick injuries occurred in 28 students who had never worked. A total of 72 students had never received needle stick prevention training and 21 students had needle stick injuries. Most of the students had good knowledge, but 29 people were needle stick injury, most of whom were students who had good knowledge. Most of the students had good behavior, but 25 people were needle stick injuries, most of whom were students who had good behavior. Conclusion: The main factors in the incidence of needle stick injuries are work experience as a nurse and training in preventing needle stick injuries.
