Hubungan Kebiasaan Konsumsi Minuman Berpemanis Dengan Kejadian Insomnia Pada Mahasiswa Fakultas Keperawatan Universitas Riau
Introduction: The habit of consuming sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) and the amount of daily sugar intake are factors that can affect the incidence of insomnia. This study aims to determine the relationship of SSBs consumption habits and the amount of daily sugar intake with the incidence of insomnia in students of the Faculty of Nursing, Riau University. Methods: This study is a quantitative study using a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. This research included 257 respondents conduct proportionated stratified random sampling technique. All respondents filled out a google form related to respondent characteristic data and BEVQ and ISI questionnaires. The analysis used was chi- square test analysis. Results: Univariate analysis showed that 60.7% of respondents had insomnia, there were 133 respondents consuming sugar-sweetened beverages with a habit of ≥20x per month (51.8%) and the type of drink most consumed was tea (46.7%). Most respondents consumed sugar-sweetened beverages with a high daily sugar intake (50.6%), respondents consumed tea with 2 tablespoons of added sugar (37.4%). The chi-square test analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the consumption habits of sugar-sweetened beverages with the incidence of insomnia with p-value=0.000 < alpha (0.05) and OR= 3.4 and there was a significant relationship between the amount of daily sugar intake from sugar-sweetened beverages and the incidence of insomnia with p-value=0.000 < alpha (0.05) and OR= 3.9. Conclusion: The habit of consuming sugar-sweetened beverages and the amount of daily sugar intake from sugar-sweetened beverages are significantly associated with the incidence of insomnia in students of the Faculty of Nursing, Riau University.
