TEACHER INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION IN MOTIVATING STUDENTS TO STUDY AT STATE PRIMARY SCHOOL 28 MANDAU BENGKALIS DISTRICT

Mandau 28 State Elementary School is an educational institution located on Jalan. Hangtuah No.21, Batang Serosa, District. Mandau, Bengkalis Regency, Riau Province. This school has the aim of improving the quality of learning and student achievement, as well as forming a character of faith, noble character and independence, while preparing them to continue their education. The school's commitment also focuses on improving the quality of teachers, school facilities, collaborating with parents and the community, creating a conducive learning environment, and organizing extracurricular activities that support student interests. But besides mothers, there are still students who lack motivation in studying, such as skipping school and having low academic scores. Therefore, teachers use interpersonal communication to further increase students' learning motivation. The aim of this research is to determine the openness, empathy, support, positive feelings and equality of teachers towards students and parents during the learning process at SDN 28 Mandau.
This study used qualitative research methods. The subjects in this research were teachers, students and parents of SDN 28 Mandau students who were selected using purposive techniques. Data collection techniques consist of observation, interviews and documentation. Meanwhile, the data analysis techniques used in this research are extended participation and triangulation.
The results of the research show that the openness of the teachers at SDN 28 Mandau is good because the teachers have created a situation of openness towards students and their parents, namely in the form of learning activities outside of class, doing sports together and with parents, namely consulting children's development. Teacher empathy for students and parents is in the form of understanding students better, because they come from different backgrounds and so do the students' parents. The support provided by teachers to students and parents is in the form of home visits to students who often miss school and inviting students to change and want to go back to school, of course with the help of the students' parents, this has a positive impact on students and their parents. The teacher's positive attitude towards students includes giving awards/prizes to students who excel, this can certainly encourage all students to excel too, and if parents remind students to supervise the student's learning process at home. Equality carried out by teachers and students is in the form of doing sports together and exploring nature together, this can make teachers and students closer, of course so that students are no longer too awkward with teachers, if with parents, namely communicating well. The results of this research can be used as reference material for SDN 28 Mandau to increase learning motivation for its students.
