Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are the cornerstone of Indonesia's economy. The number of MSMEs in Indonesia amounts to 64.19 million. In today's era of digitalization, to remain competitive and avoid bankruptcy, and to change the behavior of MSMEs and village authorities, the Regent of Indragiri Hulu through the Pasir Kemilu Village Government launched a program called the Pasir Kemilu Village Website with the name "pasirkemilu.desa.id". This research aims to investigate the innovation diffusion process in utilizing the village website as a promotion tool for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Pasir Kemilu Village, Rengat District, Riau Province. Through the four basic elements of innovation diffusion: innovation, communication channels, time span, and social system.
This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects were selected using a purposive sampling technique with 15 informants in this study. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis technique used are data collection, data reduction, and drawing conclusions. To ensure the validity of the data in this study, the researcher used triangulation.
The research results indicate that the innovation diffusion process of the village website program as a promotion for MSMEs has been successful. This is facilitated through the four basic elements of innovation diffusion: innovation, communication channels, time span, and members of the social system. Firstly, innovation is achieved by providing a promotional platform for MSMEs through the village website program "pasirkemilu.desa.id". Secondly, the communication channels utilized include interpersonal communication, social media (Facebook and WhatsApp), a calendar medium, and the Pasir Kemilu Village Website. Thirdly, the time span required from awareness to adoption for an individual is 1-6 months. The Pasir Kemilu Village Website was established on May 7, 2022. Fourthly, members of the social system are categorized into 5 groups: Innovators (Pioneers) consisting of 1 person, Early Adopters (Trailblazers) consisting of 1 person, Early Majority (Early Followers) including 5 people, Late Majority (Late Followers) consisting of 5 people, and Laggards (Very Late Followers) consisting of 3 people. The village website program as a promotion for MSMEs is highly beneficial for MSME practitioners, but in terms of its socialization aspect still needs improvement to make the program more widely known.
