Penerapan Model Problem Based Learning (PBL) Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Representasi Matematis Peserta Didik Kelas IXB SMP IT Al-Fityah Pekanbaru
The basis of the problem in this research is the level of mathematical representation ability (KRM) of students in class IX B SMP IT Al Fityah Pekanbaru is low. The number of students who achieved the maximum score on the initial KRM test was 16 students in the visual representation indicator, 19 students in the mathematical expression representation indicator, and 21 students in the word representation indicator. The research was conducted in 2 cycles by applying the problem-based learning (PBL) model on geometric transformation material, where each cycle has planning, action, observation, and reflection activities. The goal is to improve the learning process and improve students' mathematical representation skills. The data obtained were collected by utilizing observation techniques and mathematical representation ability test techniques. In cycle I and cycle II, there was an improvement in the learning process and it was found that the average percentage of students from cycles I and II who obtained the maximum score was 86% in visual representation, 82% in representation of mathematical expressions, and 52% in representation of words. Thus, it is concluded that the PBL model is a learning model that can be applied effectively in improving students' KRM.
