Strategi Komunikasi Lingkungan Dalam Melakukan Pelestarian Hutanmangrove Oleh Yayasan Sahabat Alam Rimba (Salamba) Di Kota Dumai

The Sahabat Alam Rimba Foundation (SALAMBA) is a foundation or association of individuals with a legal entity, this foundation consists of individuals who care about the environment for the benefit of the nation and state. The purpose of this research is to determine the environmental communication strategy carried out by the Salamba Foundation by analyzing communicator strategies, message strategies, media strategies, audiences and the effects that arise from environmental communication in preserving mangroves in Dumai City.

This research uses qualitative research methods with the presentation of descriptive analysis, namely by describing the state of the subject or object of research based on the facts that appear. The informants of this study consisted of 8 people according to the criteria selected 6 informants using purposive techniques. Data collection techniques consist of interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis techniques by collecting data,reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. For data validity checking techniques using extended participation and triangulation.
The results of this research show that the environmental communication process in preserving mangroves is the communicator, namely the chairman of the Salamba foundation, who involves people who are experts and experienced in the environmental field such as environmental services, farmer groups or environmental experts. Therefore, the message conveyed is the importance of preserving mangroves, environmental damage, and efforts to save them by persuading, educating and providing information regarding mangrove conservation. The target audience involves many parties, namely the people of Dumai city, agencies, institutions and industry. The selection of media used by the Salamba foundation in disseminating messages using online media (online news sites) and social media (Facebook). The effects arising from the implementation of mangrove conservation have a positive impact on the environment and the public because there is a change in people's mindset to be motivated to maintain mangrove forests, such as awareness to take part in taking concrete actions in implementing mangrove conservation.
