Instagram is a social media that is not only effective for communicating, but also for providing a lot of information online, both general and specific information. An example of an Instagram account used as an online information medium is @riauonline.co.id.
This research was conducted to measure how effective the communication of the Instagram account @riauonline.co.id is in fulfilling the legal and criminal information needs of Riau Province. The aim of this research is to find out how effective the use of the social media Instagram account @riauonline.co.id is in fulfilling the legal and criminal information needs of Riau province. The method used in this research is quantitative with a descriptive approach. The method used in this research is the survey method.
he results of this research show that the Instagram account @riauonline.co.id is effective in fulfilling the legal and criminal information needs of Riau Province, this is proven by the final result of calculating the average score for each indicator obtained, namely (4.15). As for the message recipient indicators, the average is 3.92 on an effective scale, message content 4.11 on an effective scale, media 4.16 on an effective scale, message format 4.15 effective, message source 4.27 very effective, timeliness 4 .28 is very effective. Based on research that has been carried out, an average result of 4.15 was obtained, which can be said to be effective. using the Hardjana 2000 communication effectiveness measurement, using six indicators, namely message recipient, message content, timeliness, communication media, message format and message source
