Riau's 2020 marine capture fisheries production was worth IDR 1.91 billion, with significant contributions from Indragiri Hilir and Rokan Hilir districts. The 350-kilometre Rokan River, one of the four major rivers in Riau, stretches from Rokan Hilir to Rokan Hulu. It plays an important role in transportation, tourism and the main source of livelihood for fishermen of Bagan Barat Village and the majority work as fishermen, especially gill net fishermen. Fish utilisation of the Malacca Strait waters has reached overfishing levels, exacerbated by the use of less selective fishing gear such as Bubu Tiang, Sondong, and Cantrang. How cantrang works sweeps the entire seabed The use of cantrang causes damage to the seabed and marine ecosystems. Primary data collection through direct observation in the field, namely the type, weight, number and size of the catch. Secondary data in the form of comparative data that can support the results of the study. The construction consists of: net, upper ris rope, lower ris rope, selambar rope, buoy rope, buoy, sinker and sinker. The main catches were Senangin (Eleutheronema tetradactylum) and Selar Tetengkek (Megalaspis cordyla). Side catches were Lidah (Cynoglossus microlepis), Tenggiri (Scomberromo commersoni) and Kakap Hitam (Macolo niger). Catch composition based on number of individuals (fish), main catch Senangin (Eleutheronema tetradactylum) 85 individuals and Selar Tetengkek (Megalaspis cordyla) 76 individuals.
