COMMUNICATION OF EXTENSION SERVICES OF THE FOOD CROPS, HORTICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY OFFICE IN EMPOWERING FARMER GROUPS IN PANGEAN SUB-DISTRICT, KUANTAN SINGINGI REGENCY

Counseling from the Food Crops, Horticulture and Food Stewardship Service plays an important role in improving the ability and skills of farmers in increasing agricultural yields. This study discusses the level of knowledge and skills of farmers in understanding the information and innovations conveyed by the Food Crops Service. Based on this, the objectives of this research are (1) Understanding the knowledge of farmers in Pangean District in disseminating information and innovations disseminated by the Food Crops Office of Kuantan Singingi Regency, (2) Examining the persuasion of extension workers of the Food Crops Office of Kuantan Singingi Regency to farmers in Pangean District in accepting or not accepting the innovations disseminated, (3) Analyze the decision of farmers in Pangean District to adopt or reject the innovation that is disseminated, (4) Analyze the implementation carried out by farmers in Pangean District when adopting the innovation, and (5) Analyze how farmers in Pangean District confirm in deciding to continue using the innovation or end it.
This study uses the Evert M. Rogers Innovation Diffusion theory. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach. The informants in this study consisted of 6 informants consisting of three farmers, 3 agricultural extension workers. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques are carried out by data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawn. In addition, the data validity techniques used are source triangulation and time triangulation.
The results of this study show that the communication of the Food Crops, Horticulture and Food CropsExtension Service iseffective in increasing farmers' knowledge and ability to use better agricultural technology. Farmers who participated in the counseling program from the Food Crops, Horticulture and Food Security Service became more aware and able to use better agricultural technology. In using better agricultural technology, farmers' awareness and abilities will increase as a result of the communication of the Food Crops, Horticulture, and Food Welfare Service to allow farmers to use better agricultural technology. Thistechnology helps them improve crop yields and the quality of agricultural products.
