THE SYMBOLIC MEANING OF THE YADNYA SESA RITUAL IN THE RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS OF THE BALINESE VILLAGE COMMUNITY IN JAMBAI MAKMUR VILLAGE, KANDIS DISTRICT

The yadnya sesa ritual is a tradition found in the Balinese tribe. The yadnya sesa ritual is carried out every day after cooking in the morning and before enjoying the food as a form of gratitude to God who has given all the pleasures in this world. In the Yadnya Sesa ritual there are symbolic aspects which have certain meanings and are presented through human attributes and behavior, however, in terms of the attributes used by the people of Kampung Bali, Jambai Makmur Village, Kandis District and Bali Island, there is a cultural shift and many of the people of Kampung Bali do not understand exactly what the symbols in the yadnya sesa ritual mean. The shift in terms of attributes is that on the island of Bali they use saur (roasted grated coconut) while in Kampung Bali they use side dishes or vegetables cooked on that day. This research aims to identify the meaning of symbolic situations, the meaning of social interaction products and the meaning of the interpretation of the Yadnya Sesa ritual.
The research method uses qualitative methods with an ethnographic approach. The data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique is the Miles and Huberman data analysis model. The technique for determining informants uses purposive techniques. The informants in this research were 6 people, namely traditional leaders, pasraman leaders, and the general public who carried out the yadnya sesa ritual. Apart from that, the data validity checking technique uses the triangulation method. The theory used in this research is Hubert Blumer's symbolic interaction theory.
The results of this research show that the meaning of symbolic situations in the yadnya sesa ritual in the religious traditions of the Balinese Village community in Jambai Makmur Village, Kandis District consists of physical objects and social objects. Physical objects include kamen, anteng, tray, a pinch of rice, rice paper, salt, side dishes, vegetables, incense, and water. The meaning of social interaction products includes the meaning of each informant. The meaning of the interpretation of the vadnya sesa ritual includes open actions and closed actions. Actions in the form of a happy smiling facial expression and closed actions in the form of the perpetrator's motivation in carrying out the yadnya sesa ritual and the feelings of happiness felt. Interestingly, this research has novelty value, namely that there is a cultural shift in the attributes used, namely saur which is replaced with side dishes and vegetables and many of the general public do not yet know the meaning of the implementation of the yadnya sesa ritual.
